Babies and Caleb

Caleb loves babies. He loves to touch them, talk to them, look at them, watch them. This is all encouraging, right? But then touching often leads to hitting, headbutting, etc., talking must be done two inches from their face, "look" in kid language means "have," and watching them is only interesting if they DO something, which young babies don't do much of unless they cry. Yes, I'm nervous to have a baby in this house 24 hours a day. :)

While I was typing this Caleb opened the dishwasher and brought me a knife, "This one's sharp." Yes, that one is sharp, very sharp. Oh boy, better sign off...

Ethan has gotten to knives also. it's very nerveracking when they can reach things and get into things. Ethan can now get water out of the dispenser on the fridge...fun stuff....:) I believe that you are a great mother, and it will be difficult but I believe in you! :). I think having a baby around all the time will help Caleb learn how to be around them more, and he will understand more about what you can and can't do with babies. I think it's really neat that he has shown such an interest in babies, which I think shows that he is open to being taught. good luck with it all, and being induced. I miss you guys, and hope you are doing well.

I just tagged you on my blog. Maybe it will make the next few days go faster. Probably not, but it is worth a try.

p.s. are you naming your baby Annika after your mom and Katie? I just thought of that Monday.

Charity, I'm so glad I remembered you have a blog and I've been catching up a little (I'm supposed to be proofing a book on prostate surgery but I needed a reprieve!). I am so excited for you guys! I love the name Annika Ruby. It's beautiful. I don't know how kids are so drawn to knives. Whenever the dishwasher is open so the kids (Ana and Ry) can do their chore of putting away the dishes, Sam is so quick to crawl over and grab a knife. I've finally learned that he has to be in his crib during dishwasher duty! Anyway, good luck! I hope everything goes super with your new little one. I wish we were closer and could help out!! I can't wait to see pics. Best wishes. We miss you guys!! Alya & Fam PS Ryan passed the foreign service written exam and is working really hard to study for the next exam in late July. Cross your fingers for us!
