On Saturday it poured in Boise. I guess it hadn't rained in fifty something days, and it all came at once. I absolutely LOVE rain and stormy weather! It was so cozy to sit at home and watch Conference while listening to the pounding rain through the open window and crocheting. I can't begin to describe how content I felt. The smells, the sound of rain, the inspiring messages, and time to myself (Caleb was napping and Andy was coming home from his trip to eastern ID).
It's been a while since I've done any projects and it was so fun to get back into it a bit. My mother and grandmother are project women and make all sorts of fun things. My Grammy carves dolls, quilts, does all sorts of art projects and old-world type crafts. She taught me how to card and dye wool and then spin it on a spinning wheel when I was younger. We always did such fun things when we visited her house. She is incredibly imaginative and invents games then makes the game boards and/or pieces for the game, makes puppets and puts on puppet shows, and all sorts of fun things for kids to do. I wish I could be a mom like her.
My own mother majored in clothing and textiles because she is a talented seamstress and loves the history and everything related. (She would get very insulted when people would make fun of her degree saying she was just at BYU to get married. And while she did get married to a very non-conventional guy--my father--she finished her degree despite having a terrible bought of cancer that almost took her life. Remarkable lady, my mother.) She taught us to sew and do lots of things with our hands. I am unfortunately a rather poor seamstress due to my impatience and desire to shortcut, but I did learn to enjoy projects that I make with my hands from my mom.
Listening to the messages delivered during Conference made me want to be such a better person. I want to be better with the use of my time, not to worry so much about things--laugh at tough situations like Elder Worthlin advised, and to be better with the resourses I'm given. All in all it was a wonderful conference and I hope those of you who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints also were able to watch and enjoy General Conference this October!
Oh, and during the Relief Society broadcast, I saw/felt number two move around for the first time. I've felt a few kicks since then but nothing really big. I'm excited for when we can really see the movement.
