Caleb's first go at the cake wasn't as successful as we'd imagined.  Lately the kid has been able to smell sugar but for some reason refused the cupcake.  Perhaps he was upset that we hadn't let him play with the candle, I don't know.  We were outside and he knocked it to the ground and we let him get out of his chair.  Once down he licked some of the frosting off his fingers and then eagerly reached for the cupcake.  We gave him a different piece and he merrily shoved pieces in his mouth and it made for wonderful pictures.

Caleb's birthday was a great success.  We had a little party on Saturday the 26th of April even though his birthday is the 25th.  We invited a few friends and neighbors and had a little BBQ.  Andy and I had a great time shopping for it and getting ready for it.  I, of course, did most things last minute and was finishing the pinata at midnight Friday night. :) We used this paper mache duck Andy made when we were dating and I thought it was so good I would never let him throw it out and we've moved with it five times.  I just put some yellow crete paper on it and it worked great as a pinata.  Here are some pictures of the pinata

The seat post to Andy's bike got stolen right in front of the courthouse where he works. He is great about riding his bike to work and it saves us money, gas, wear and tear on car, buying second vehicle, etc. Also his current bike, though beloved, is really too small. He had a special seat-post that stuck out and made it doable to ride. Since it got stolen it was a great opportunity to revamp the bike. He shopped online and found a new frame, seat-post, and I don't remember what else. He was very excited the day it came and Caleb was so interested in watching his Dad that he came out to help. We had a party at the church and I thought Caleb would like to hold onto the fishing pole. He did. I also thought he might think it's cool to pull something out, but I don't think he's old enough to be surprised that something comes out behind the curtain. I think his whole life is a little like that at the moment--things just come up from behind the curtain.

Halloween 2007

My mom made this adorable lizard (or dinosaur or whatever you'd like it to be) costume for Caleb for Halloween. I don't think I captured it completely in any of these photos, but hopefully you can see a bit of what he looked like. By the way, does anyone know if there is a way to upload multiple pictures at once? I'd like to post a lot of pictures but it's really annoying and slow to do it one at a time.Post Options
